Monday is the beginning of the third quarter of sixth grade! We will be setting new goals for our personal reading and wrapping up our unit on China. Here are a few important dates to mark on your calendar:
Sixth grade singing at church (9:00 Service) – Sunday 2/2
Salem Family Fun Night (food trucks & Lost and Found Concert) – Friday 2/7
Monday 1/21 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday – no school
Thursday 1/23 – Last day of 2nd Quarter!
Friday 1/24 – No school – Teacher meetings
We are welcoming our students from China this week! We will have 11 students spending the week in both sixth grade classes. This is an exciting experience for all and an opportunity for us to make them feel very welcomed and loved. We will also have a busy week as we begin reading our class novel, “The Cay.” Team sports pictures, a pep rally, as well as the booster club BBQ will take place this Friday. Don’t forget that next Monday (1/20) is a holiday for Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday.
Welcome back to school in 2014! I hope you all had a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year. We are beginning an exciting month which includes welcoming students from China into our classroom for a week. We will kick off our study of ancient China and begin reading biographies in preparation for our book projects. We will be beginning our first class novel, The Cay, which goes hand in hand with our study of Martin Luther King Jr. We pray for God’s blessings on the new year.
